Job Summary:
As a Junior Freight Broker with our freight brokerage, you will work directly with the CEO of the company to learn the ins and outs of the freight sales process. This 26-week internship is designed for recent graduates or early-career professionals who are eager to explore the freight brokerage industry, build a career in sales, and gain hands-on experience. Throughout the internship, you’ll be responsible for assisting in new business acquisition, prospecting, and relationship building, with the opportunity to transition into a full-time freight broker role upon successful completion.
This role is ideal for individuals who are motivated, coachable, and looking to grow their career in the logistics space while receiving mentorship from the leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn the Freight Brokerage Business: Spend 26 weeks shadowing the CEO to understand every aspect of the freight brokerage sales process.
- Prospecting and Lead Generation: Help identify new business opportunities by conducting cold calls, warm calls, and following up on inbound leads.
- Client Relationship Management: Support the acquisition and expansion of customer accounts by building relationships and ensuring timely communication.
- Sales Support: Assist in negotiating competitive pricing and terms with customers and carriers to close deals.
- Shipment Management: Track shipments, resolve issues, and ensure the smooth delivery of freight by collaborating with internal teams.
- Market Research: Stay up to date with industry trends, shipping rates, and logistics developments to help identify new opportunities.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate records of client interactions and sales activities using CRM systems.
Qualifications:
- Recent graduate or early-career professional with an interest in sales, logistics, or freight brokerage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for relationship-building.
- Motivated, self-driven, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work full-time in a hybrid office environment (some in-office time required).
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to take initiative and ownership of your work.
- College degree preferred but not required; military veterans encouraged to apply.
